Women: “Black Rice”
So Women have their sophomore album, Public Strain, coming out in a few months. I thought their first self-titled effort was okay, but not great— overall, just a little too “all over the place” to really make sense as an album, but when they stumbled on something great (see: “Black Rice”) it really worked. So far, this new record is still pretty all over the place, and I wish they’d just find one thing and get really good at it, but it might sink in for me over time.
